During the summer we offer three dance programs:
Summer Dance Camp for grade school students aged
6-10, our traditional intensive summer course for
Intermediate and Advanced students and our flexible
summer course for 4-12 year olds and Adult/Teen
students. Our intensive program includes daily
ballet classes, introductory classes to other dance
forms, workshops, and special guest teachers. The
flexible summer course is available for those who
wish to continue their studies through the summer,
but do not wish to commit to daily classes.

2012 Summer Dance Camp:
July 23-27, July 30-August 3, August 6-10
We are pleased to offer a
full, intensive, week-long arts program for 6 to 10
year olds (the youngest students must be
entering first grade this Fall). The program
includes a daily ballet class and many other fun
activities, including creative dance with
storytelling and dress-up, as well as studies of
other dance forms, including hula, jazz, and folk
dancing. We also provide an introduction to stage
arts and crafts, with an emphasis on creativity. We
also have etiquette lessons and have a special tea
party to demonstrate proper etiquette.
Classes run from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday
through Friday. Information and

2012 Summer Intensive Course: June
11 - July 14 - *currently being revised*
Students 9 and older who
are at an Intermediate or Advanced level (Levels
IV-VII) are welcome to participate in our intensive
five-week summer course. The curriculum includes a
daily ballet technique class, followed by another
class from the following selections (based upon the
age group and level of proficiency): Pointe, Pas de
Deux, Character, Jazz, Modern, Floor Barre &
Stretching, Pilates, Variations, Choreography,
Costume Design, Labanotation, Nutrition, Dance
History, ethnic folk dancing, and others. No
audition is required for this program, although new
students must either schedule a placement class or
send a videotape so we can determine the level in
which they will be placed. The normal dress code for
our school will be in effect for all summer classes.

page for details.) Parents are invited to observe
classes during the final week of the Summer session.
Some classes will present an informal studio
performance on the final day of classes.

We also offer a flexible
five-week course for younger students and for those
who want to pursue their study of dance, but cannot
make a daily commitment. These classes include
Pre-Ballet (ages 4 to 6), Ballet I (ages 6 to 8) and
Ballet II/III (ages 7 to 12). Ballet IV/VII students
(ages 9 & up) can take our Open Ballet classes
for Adults and Teens. We will accommodate all
students, especially new beginners of any age.
Please call us to discuss appropriate programs and

Summer Faculty -- 2012 - TBA
Our summer teaching staff
includes both members of our permanent faculty and
guest teachers. This year the following members of
our faculty will teach: Brianne Ackroyd, Sarah
Arnold, Kimberly Boman, Marion Chaeff, Rima
Chaeff, Karen Dycaico, Amanda Ban and Frances
Tshudy.

Lawrence Pech |
Mr. Pech was formerly a Principal dancer
with the San Francisco Ballet and the
American Ballet Theater. He is currently
Ballet Master of San Francisco Opera Ballet
and Director of his own group, the Lawrence
Pech Dance Company. He is presently also on
the Summer Faculty with American Ballet
Theatre. |

Anton Pankevich |
Mr. Pankevich currently dances with
Pacific Northwest Ballet, and has danced
with the Royal Ballet, Dutch National Ballet
and New York City Ballet. He has taught for
Hanover Ballet and English National Ballet.

Abiog |
Ms. Abiog has danced with Cleo Parker
Robinson Dance in Denver, and several New
York City-based companies, most recently
with Complexions Contemporary Ballet. She
danced with Ballet San Jose under the
direction of Marion Chaeff and has a strong
ballet, Pilates, and contemporary
background. |

Ricardo Bustamante |
Mr. Bustamante was formerly a Principal
dancer with American Ballet Theater and San
Francisco Ballet, and a guest with the Royal
Ballet and many other companies. He is the
former director of Teatre Colon in Buenos
Aires, Argentina. |

Brian Bertscher |
Mr. Bertscher was formerly with the Royal
Ballet in London. He is a Master Teacher in
Germany and at company classes at the Royal
Ballet, and taught Master Classes for us in
the summer of 1999. |

Maria Vegh |
Ms. Vegh is an internationally known
teacher and coach. She is the former
Director of the Harkness Ballet in New York
and of the Marin Ballet Company and School.

Shannon Chain |
Ms. Chain formerly danced with American
Ballet Theater. She is currently a Master
Teacher at many schools. |

Daniel Simmons |
Mr. Simmons is currently the Director of
the Cincinnati Ballet School. He was
formerly the Director of San Jose Dance
Theater and the Contra Costa Ballet, and on
the faculty of the San Francisco Ballet
School. |

Antonio Lopez |
Mr. Lopez was formerly with the San
Francisco Ballet and the Los Angeles Ballet,
and currently guests with many companies. |

Catherine Ryan |
Ms. Ryan is a former member of New York
City Ballet and San Francisco Ballet, and
currently teaches ballet at Stanford
University. |
